What is Same Day Tooth Replacement?
As a board-certified prosthodontist, Dr. McFadden specializes in the replacement and restoration of teeth. This includes the placement of dental implants, which are used to replace missing teeth. In many cases, when an implant is placed, because of varying factors, getting a temporary tooth attached to the implant that same day is not always possible. When this is the case, either a removable temporary tooth or no temporary at all is placed (imagine back teeth). This is because many times, if the bone density and availability isn’t adequate to support a functioning tooth, it takes time for the implants to integrate (form a solid foundation within the jaw bone). But! In other instances, we can replace your tooth and restore your smile in the same day. Not everyone or every tooth site is a candidate for this, but we do these virtually every day, so it is very possible yours can be!
Once the screws are placed in the ideal positions in the upper or lower jaw, we will affix a customized acrylic/temporary crown that matches the natural color and shape of your natural teeth. This temporary appliance provides seamless treatment that allows you to not ever have to be without a tooth. Once the implant is fully integrated, we can make the final porcelain crown for it.

- A removable, temporary bridge is not ideal
