All About Northwest Dallas, TX
Northwest Dallas is bordered to the north by I-635, to the west by Stemmons Freeway, to the east by the Dallas North Tollway, and to the south by the I-35E and Dallas North Tollway junction. It is home to Love Field and many residential and commercial neighborhoods.
All six flags of Texas have flown over Dallas: Spanish, French, Mexican, Republic of Texas, Confederate, and United States. The area was named in 1841 by surveyor John Neely Bryan and formally became a city in 1856. Thanks to railroads, Dallas quickly became a center of business and trade and attracted workers from across Texas, the South, and the Midwest as an industrial city. Dallas became home to the first skyscraper west of the Mississippi, the Praetorian Building at a dizzying 15 stories high.
Dallas is home to 17 billionaires and is the third most popular destination for business travel in the country. It has more shopping centers per capita than any other city in the US, including the Dallas Galleria right next to Northwest Dallas.
